I made it to Thailand!

Hello all and thank you for following my travels... <3
Sorry for not posting sooner... The first few days were a blur of long flights (15 1/2 hours to Seoul, 🥺, then on to Bangkok), stop overs and other travels, finally arriving in the beach town of Hua Hin, Thailand. I've been enjoying the slower pace and the sun, although the heat has been an adjustment and can get pretty brutal if you're doing anything active... like hiking a steep (!) path to see a shrine in a cave on a day with a heat warning. Oops!
The focus of the hike was to see a shrine erected for a past king. There is an opening in the top of cave that shines light directly onto the shrine for a few hours mid-day. While it was a strenuous hike, it was worth it for the site inside!

I'm staying in the traditional part of town, complete with night market and all the shopping stalls and street food. What a scene! I think I've finally mastered the greetings (hello, thank you and the accompanying wai) and how to walk confidently on the road with all the passing traffic.
I started noticing some specific graffiti as soon as I arrived here, and I now have an entire album of images from my walks around town. It's all by one artist, who I've identified with the help of Google lens. He has an account on Instagram and I'm going to check out his space tomorrow before I leave Hua Hin. I might bring back a print or other souvenir, to help support his art...

Tomorrow I head back to Bangkok by bus and the following morning I fly to Bhutan (VERY early). I'm really excited to be visiting the country known as one of the Happiest places on earth. Some interesting posts to follow...!
Love all these posts! What incredibly amazing sights and adventures. I am glad you didn't have any complications with the long flights. Do people ask for your photo?
I love that scene of the shrine and the light coming through! Hopefully you stayed well hydrated in that crazy heat. Lol.
